Role: System Analyst
Job Level: More than 10 years of relevant experience
Duration: 6 Months
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Delivery & Systems Analysis
• Own BI FAST RFP, eMandate and Direct Debit delivery across requirements → solution design → integration → testing → rollout.
• Produce engineering ready specifications:
o API specs (REST/JSON), OpenAPI/Swagger definitions
o Microservices interface contracts, event schemas, callback payloads
o Sequence diagrams, state machines, mapping specs, error models
• Define end to end orchestration flows for:
o RFP initiation, acceptance, expiry, rejection
o Mandate lifecycle events
o Direct Debit presentment, validation, debit and return
• Specify robust pre processing logic:
o Customer/account validation
o Entitlement and authorisation checks
o Funds availability
o Fraud/AML/sanctions gating
o Limits, thresholds, duplicate suppression
o Idempotency, retry and timeout handling
2. API & Microservices Architecture
• Define API and microservices designs using existing components :
o Payment initiation microservices
o Validation & entitlement services
o Fraud/AML adapters
o Core banking and ledger integration patterns
• Reuse existing:
o API standards (naming conventions, response structures, error formats)
o Security models (OAuth2/JWT, mTLS, signature validation)
o Eventing patterns (Kafka topics, event schemas, DLQ handling)
o Common libraries for logging, telemetry, utility functions
• Ensure microservices follow UOB’s engineering principles:
o Loose coupling, clear domain boundaries
o Async event driven integration where applicable
o High availability and horizontal scalability
o Observability (structured logs, metrics, tracing)
3. User Journeys, Entitlements & Authorisation
• Define user journeys for:
o RFP initiation (corporate/merchant)
o RFP acceptance (retail/corporate)
o Mandate creation and management
o Direct Debit debit and return flows
• Align journeys with entitlements and auth rules:
o Per transaction and daily limits
o Maker checker workflows for corporates
o Channel specific access rights
• Coordinate with channel teams to maintain parity across Mobile, Internet Banking, H2H and API Banking.
4. Integration & Platform Engineering
• Design integration between:
o Payment Hub / RFP Orchestrator
o BI FAST gateway
o Mandate / Direct Debit engines
o Core banking, ledger, AML, fraud
• Use existing microservices blueprints for:
o Error propagation and code mapping
o Schema validation and transformation
o Event lifecycle management
o Callback patterns and async updates
5. Scheme, Regulatory & Risk Alignment
• Translate BI FAST RFP, eMandate and Direct Debit scheme rules into:
o Validation rules
o Reason code mappings
o Reversal/return workflows
• Embed mandatory controls:
o AML/CFT & sanctions
o Fraud monitoring
o Non repudiation and evidence capture
o TRM, cybersecurity and audit trail requirements
6. Testing, Deployment & Operational Readiness
• Lead SIT/UAT/E2E test scenario design for:
o RFP → acceptance → settlement flows
o Mandate lifecycle
o Direct Debit presentment/return/dispute cases
o Timeouts, retries, negative tests
• Work with Engineering & Ops to ensure:
o Monitoring dashboards and alerts
o Reconciliation and exception queues
o Runbooks for replay, retry and operational fixes
• Support scheme certification and phased deployment.
Success Measures
• High quality BI FAST RFP, eMandate and Direct Debit delivery with minimal defects.
• Strong reuse of existing microservices, reducing build complexity and time to market.
• High STP rates, stable performance and consistent low latency behaviour.
• Clear, engineering ready specifications enabling smooth developer adoption.
• Strong governance alignment across Product, Engineering, Operations and Risk.
Requirements:
Key Skills & Experience
• 7–12 years in payment systems analysis with experience in RFP, eMandate, Direct Debit, or similar.
• Strong engineering/technical skills:
o API design (REST/JSON, OpenAPI/Swagger)
o Microservices architecture
o Event driven patterns (Kafka or equivalent)
o State machine and sequence diagram modelling
o HA/DR and low latency systems
• Experience integrating with AML, fraud, entitlements and ledger systems.
• Ability to reuse and extend existing platform components and code frameworks.
