Job Summary:
The Senior IT Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s technology environment, systems, and processes comply with applicable regulatory requirements, internal governance standards, and financial crime prevention frameworks.
The role combines regulatory oversight, IT control evaluation, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination to strengthen the organization’s compliance posture, particularly within AML and financial crime risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. IT Controls & Compliance Reviews
Conduct periodic compliance reviews of IT systems, applications, and operational processes.
Identify control gaps, vulnerabilities, and regulatory exposure areas.
Support internal and external audit activities by providing documentation, system evidence, and control validation.
2. Policy Governance & Framework Enhancement
Draft, revise, and enhance IT compliance policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks.
Ensure policies reflect evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Embed compliance standards into day-to-day IT operations.
3. Risk Identification & Remediation
Assess technology-related compliance risks using a risk-based methodology.
Prioritize identified issues and develop corrective action plans.
Track remediation progress and ensure timely closure of findings.
4. Regulatory Monitoring
Continuously monitor local and international regulatory developments impacting IT and AML compliance.
Evaluate regulatory changes and coordinate required system/process updates.
5. Reporting & Escalation
Prepare structured compliance reports, risk summaries, and audit findings for senior management and regulators.
Escalate material compliance concerns appropriately and maintain robust documentation trails.
6. Awareness & Advisory
Conduct compliance awareness sessions and provide guidance to employees on IT governance and AML-related controls.
Serve as a subject matter resource on IT compliance matters.
7. Issue Management
Investigate compliance breaches, irregularities, or control failures.
Coordinate with Legal, HR, Internal Audit, and Risk teams for resolution and documentation.
8. Systems Alignment with Regulatory Requirements
Work closely with the IT function to ensure AML systems and related applications remain aligned with regulatory expectations and internal standards.
Support enhancements, tuning, and optimization of AML monitoring tools.
Key Requirements:
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
Professional certifications such as ICA, CAMS, or equivalent are advantageous
Experience
Minimum 6+ years of experience in compliance, regulatory risk, or AML within financial services
Prior banking experience is mandatory
Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of IT General Controls (ITGC) and AML monitoring systems
Familiarity with financial crime typologies and banking products
Proficiency in MS Office and compliance-related systems
Understanding of risk-based compliance methodologies
Exposure to statistical or analytical tools is an added advantage
