Senior Crypto Investigator - £80,000 - £150,000 - 2 days p/w in London
We are partnering with a FinTech Crypto startup, who are building out a specialist crypto investigations function and are looking for investigators who live and breathe on‑chain work. This is not a generic compliance analyst role – it’s hands‑on investigations into real crypto crime and suspicious activity.
The Senior Crypto Investigator will be responsible for:

Lead end‑to‑end investigations into complex crypto crime and suspicious transactions

Trace funds across blockchains using leading analytics tools and OSINT

Produce clear, defensible investigative reports for internal and external stakeholders

Collaborate with law enforcement, regulators and industry counterparts where required

Help shape investigative playbooks, tooling and best practices as the team scales

Contribute to a strong culture of compliance and risk management
The ideal Senior Crypto Investigator will have experience with the following:

Proven experience in crypto investigations – you already know your way around on‑chain analysis

Background in law enforcement, intelligence, financial crime, or similar investigatory work

Strong investigative mindset: hypothesis‑driven, process‑oriented, evidence‑led

Solid understanding of crypto ecosystems, exchanges, wallets, mixers and relevant typologies

Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
-
Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, high‑stakes environment where accuracy matters
Nice to have

Experience in cybercrime units, financial intelligence units, or blockchain analytics companies

Exposure to AML / CFT / sanctions frameworks

Prior work with tools such as Chainalysis, TRM, Elliptic, etc.
Level & compensation
We are hiring at both
junior and senior
levels:
-
Junior Investigators: typically 2–3 years’ relevant experience, salary band
£60k–£80k
+ bonus and equity

Senior Investigators: deeper experience and/or team leadership, typically
£90k–£150k
depending on skills and scope
Location & ways of working

London‑based, hybrid
role

Minimum
2 days per week in the office
(typically Monday and Tuesday); more if you prefer
