OFAC Analyst

Our client, an International Bank based in Midtown Manhattan, is seeking an OFAC Sanctions Consultant to join their Compliance team in New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, conducting thorough investigations, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of international sanctions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively.
Key Responsibilities:

Sanctions Compliance:
Ensure the company's compliance with OFAC regulations by monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting sanctions lists, regulations, and guidance.

Screening and Investigation:
Conduct thorough investigations of potential matches to sanctioned entities, individuals, and countries. Perform due diligence reviews and escalate potential sanctions violations as necessary.

Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports of findings and maintain comprehensive records of investigations and compliance activities.

Communication:
Serve as a point of contact for inquiries related to OFAC sanctions and provide clear, concise guidance to internal stakeholders. Communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.

Training and Awareness:
Assist in developing and delivering training programs on OFAC regulations and sanctions compliance to ensure awareness and understanding across the organization.

Policy Development:
Contribute to the development and enhancement of policies, procedures, and internal controls related to sanctions compliance.

Collaboration:
Work closely with other compliance team members, legal counsel, and business units to address sanctions-related issues and ensure consistent application of policies.
Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, International Relations, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CAMS, CFCS) are a plus.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in sanctions compliance, AML, or a related field, preferably within a financial institution or multinational corporation.

Knowledge:
Strong understanding of OFAC regulations, international sanctions regimes, and global compliance best practices.

Analytical Skills:
Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and assess their impact on the organization.

Attention to Detail:
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in conducting investigations and preparing reports.

Technology Proficiency:
Proficient in using compliance screening tools, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
