About the Role
My client is seeking a Fraud & AML Data Analyst to support their Fraud and Financial Crime function through high-quality analysis, reporting, and actionable insight.
This role will play an important part in identifying emerging risks, analysing fraud and AML trends, supporting system rule optimisation, and providing data-driven insight to strengthen fraud and financial crime controls.
The successful candidate will help enable informed decision-making, reduce fraud losses, and enhance overall fraud detection and prevention capability across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities

Produce accurate management information (MI), dashboards, and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for internal stakeholders

Analyse fraud losses, transaction monitoring alerts, referral trends, and emerging fraud or AML risk patterns

Support tuning, optimisation, and performance monitoring of fraud and AML detection systems

Conduct deep-dive analysis and provide clear, actionable recommendations to strengthen fraud and financial crime controls

Prepare data extracts and analysis to support audits, regulatory reviews, and external reporting requirements
-
Collaborate with Product, Technology, Credit Risk, and Operations teams to support data-driven control improvements

Maintain clear documentation of analysis methodologies, assumptions, and rule recommendations
-
Identify control weaknesses and contribute to the design of improved detection and prevention measures

Support investigators and assist with case handling during periods of increased operational demand

About the Candidate
Skills & Competencies

Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights

Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis

Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
-
High attention to detail and comfort working with large and complex datasets
-
Proactive, curious, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
Experience & Knowledge

Proven experience using SQL (essential)

Experience within fraud analytics, AML, financial crime, risk analytics, or financial services environments preferred

Experience building dashboards and management reporting
-
Understanding of fraud detection signals, transaction monitoring alerts, or AML trends desirable
-
Experience supporting or testing fraud or AML detection rules advantageous
