FinCrime Compliance Analyst

Coinbase is looking for a Financial Crimes Compliance Audit Analyst to join the Internal Audit team. This role is based in the United States (Remote) and will be reporting to the Regulatory Compliance Internal Audit Senior Manager. This individual will be responsible for executing all aspects of financial crime compliance audits, including planning, testing and report writing. This individual has experience working in or with FinTech or financial services industry and has an understanding of the industry’s regulatory environment and the anti-money laundering, sanctions, anti-bribery, fraud and other financial crime compliance rules that impact US and international financial institutions like Coinbase. The Analyst will also be responsible for performing validations of internal audit and regulatory findings, aiding with annual audit risk assessments and completing data analysis over large data sets. Must be proficient in Excel and Google Suite. Proficiency in SQL preferred.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • As a part of a global internal audit team you will be working to execute compliance audits.
  • Responsible for supporting Coinbase’s internal audit plan through the execution of compliance related audits from beginning to end. Key activities include audit planning, stakeholder management, data analysis, fieldwork execution, reporting and validation of remediated audit findings.
  • Responsible for reviewing documents, executing testing, documenting workpapers and drafting reports.
  • Responsible for reviewing rules and regulations and determining applicability to Coinbase’s business.
  • Responsible for mapping processes and confirming design effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Responsible for holding walkthroughs and other meetings with internal stakeholders to understand business processes, internal controls, and areas of risk.
  • Responsible for reviewing and evaluating the adequacy and timeliness of management's response and the corrective action taken on internal audit findings, including validation of remediation activities.
  • Perform data analysis and testing of data sets to confirm adequacy of internal processes and controls.
  • Promote new ideas / innovative means of executing projects and internal infrastructure enhancements focused on process or technology improvements.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • A BA/BS degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Law, Management Consulting and/or Data Analysis within Financial Crime Compliance for financial institutions.
  • Understanding of an internal control environment.
  • Understanding of the financial services industry and the applicable AML, Sanctions, ABC, and financial crimes compliance rules and regulations.
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills, with high standards for quality, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and experience with, or the ability to adapt to a rapidly growing start-up with associated complexities and ambiguities.
  • Understanding of data analysis techniques; demonstrated proficiency in SQL preferred.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Curious, self starting, independently motivated, and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel, and Google Suite.

  • Experience working in a fast paced organization.
  • Experience working with/in an out-sourced or co-sourced internal audit function.
  • Experience in crypto/blockchain technology.
  • Experience working in a high security and/or highly regulated industry.
  • Understanding of crypto, payments and/or financial services industry and experience in auditing information systems and controls.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

Pay Range: : $95,030 USD - $111,800 USD
