The Director of Due Diligence will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the entire Due Diligence team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely, and compliant due diligence investigations. This role is responsible for driving team performance, developing and implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Director will act as a key stakeholder, collaborating with senior leadership and external partners to support critical business decisions and mitigate risk.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Due Diligence department, aligning with overall company objectives.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Managers and Associate Managers within the Due Diligence team.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Due Diligence department, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to established KPIs.
- Monitor and analyze key performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including FCRA and other applicable laws.
- Manage departmental budget and resources effectively.
- Oversee the selection and management of third-party vendors and technology solutions.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with due diligence investigations.
- Manage the department's profit and loss (P&L), providing regular reports on financial performance and key operational metrics to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates on due diligence activities.
- Drive the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee talent acquisition, performance management, and professional development for the Due Diligence team.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory changes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on due diligence matters, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders.
- Be the key point person for client inquiries, as well as support for sales and customer success team for the Due Diligence department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, political science, international studies, business administration, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in due diligence, risk management, or a related field, with a proven track record of leadership and success.
- 5+ years of experience in managing and developing teams.
- Extensive knowledge of due diligence best practices, regulations (including FCRA), and industry standards.
- Strong understanding of public record investigation methodologies and resources (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, TLO).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience managing budgets and resources.
- Experience with confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience in vendor management.
