Experience Associate - Due Diligence - Forensic
Job Summary
This position is within BDO’s Investigative Due Diligence practice, which assists clients in conducting research and collecting, assessing and presenting information on companies, individuals and other topics from research of a wide range of public, online and print information resources and research databases. The candidate would be responsible for researching and assessing data for the due diligence practice.
Job Duties
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel, is required
- Knowledge of commercial databases such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Clear and Pacer, is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and basic research skills related to the retrieval and organization of high volumes of information
- Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
- Ability to successfully multi-task, while working independently or within a group environment
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the Firm
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree, required, in Library Sciences, Journalism, Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies, Political Science, English or Liberal Arts, preferred
Associate, Investigative Due Diligence (IDD)- (Level 2)
- Two (2) or more years of experience performing corporate, litigation and adverse media research, required
- Two (2) or more years of experience performing background checks or due diligence, preferred
- Language capabilities of either Arabic or Chinese, written and spoken with ability to translate and conduct research in these languages will be good add on to have
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive research ability into subject’s history, track record and reputation and verifying biographic information including regulatory databases
- Experience in retrieval of litigation and other public records through desktop research
- Assessing political exposure or business activities that could touch upon sanctions/regulatory-related issues
- Media and internet review, focusing on adverse media content published in news publications, industry-specific periodicals, social media posts (basic review) and blog posts
- Robust social media analysis to include a review of public profiles, a search across social media platforms for adverse content
