Assistant Compliance Manager - AML (UAEN Only)
The Compliance Unit ensures the Bank complies with all relevant external laws and regulations, including Sanctions, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF). This includes compliance with both local and international (US, EU) standards.
Role Purpose:
The Assistant Compliance Manager – AML plays a critical role in ensuring the bank complies with Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing regulations by identifying, analyzing, and reporting suspicious activities. This role supports the development and implementation of AML frameworks, monitors transaction activities, and provides regulatory reporting in line with UAE Central Bank requirements. It also involves supporting internal investigations, addressing audit findings, delivering AML training, and engaging with stakeholders to enhance compliance controls. The position contributes to risk mitigation, ensures timely and accurate SAR filings, and fosters a culture of compliance through guidance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct complex investigations into suspicious transactions, gathering data and reporting findings in line with AML/CTF regulations.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and review AML controls, identify process weaknesses, and recommend improvements to reduce financial crime risk.
- Handle day-to-day AML/CDD compliance issues, including responding to internal/external audit findings and regulatory queries.
- Support the implementation of compliance initiatives and system enhancements in coordination with the Compliance Roadmap.
- Engage regularly with CBUAE/FIU/LEA through systems and reports to address compliance-related matters.
- Collaborate with business units to strengthen internal controls, provide training, and promote a culture of compliance.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum 3 years of experience in financial crime compliance, investigations, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of AML and Sanctions Compliance, including UAE Central Bank regulations and international best practices.
- Professional certification such as CAMS or ICA “preferred”
- Proficient in time management, investigation, and analytical thinking with a strong understanding of banking products and compliance tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels of management
